Amazing Library Acquisition: An Ancient Codex. Crossway College is proud to announce the donation of a facsimile of Codex Sinaiticus for the Toowong Library. Codex Sinaiticus is the oldest extant copy of the complete New Testament, dating from the fourth century AD. It is a hand-written document in ancient Greek and is a very important text tracing the transmission of the text of the New Testament. It is one of few copies of the facsimile in Australia. It is also a wonderful book to be able to show students as they attempt to learn ancient Greek and study the origins and canonisation of the New Testament.
It would be even more fantastic if we could acquire two other major codices: Codex Vaticanus and Codex Alexandrinus. These two codices are expensive but would be an invaluable addition to our collection and resourcing of ancient Christian texts for study, education and research. If you’d like to be involved in helping Crossway College acquire more ancient Christian documents we’d love to hear from you!
